27 September marks World Tourism Day, a key date promoted by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) since 1980.
World Tourism Day 2024 seeks to raise awareness of the convergence between tourism and peacebuilding by highlighting how travel, cultural exchanges and sustainable tourism practices can contribute to conflict resolution, reconciliation and the promotion of peace around the world.
Tourism is one of the most dynamic engines of the world economy. It contributes to economic growth, job creation and the creation of opportunities in various industries. The sector provides fertile ground for innovation and entrepreneurship, and has the capacity to drive economic growth and offer unique opportunities for young talent.
UNWTO has repeatedly pointed out that responsibly managed tourism can contribute not only to economic growth but also to social cohesion.
This World Tourism Day is an opportunity to highlight our National Parks, 18 million hectares of national pride that are the refuge of unique species, of our identity, of our homeland.
