The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is celebrated every 26 June with the aim of raising awareness of the serious problem that illicit drugs represent for society and to strengthen international action and cooperation to achieve a world free of drug use.
In our country, the Secretariat for Comprehensive Drug Policies of Argentina (Sedronar) coordinates public policies focused on prevention, care, assistance and support for people with problematic substance use throughout the country.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Security of the Nation is firmly committed to the fight against drug trafficking, reinforcing surveillance and actions against drug trafficking networks, seeking to dismantle these organisations and reduce the flow of illicit substances in the country.
Since the beginning of the administration, the Security Forces, National Gendarmerie, Argentine Federal Police, Airport Security Police, Federal Penitentiary Service, and Argentine Naval Prefecture have carried out 10,905 anti-drug procedures; seized 39,583.04 kg of marijuana; 5,604.07 kg of cocaine (base paste and salts); 260,436 units of synthetic drugs (ecstasy, amphetamine, LSD, methamphetamine and NBOMe); and, 10,116 people have been apprehended.
