The National Government, by order of the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, changed the name of the Salón de los Pueblos Originarios of the Casa Rosada to Salón Héroes de Malvinas.

During the meeting, the Presidential Spokesperson Manuel Adorni expressed that "the Casa Rosada is the heritage of all Argentines, it is an emblem of our Nation, and as such it has to vindicate our heroes of the homeland".

In this sense, he remarked that "since a few weeks ago, our heroes, those who defined the territorial extension of our homeland, such as José de San Martín and Julio Argentino Roca, have had their space again".

"When many sectors put party flags above our national insignia, these men went to defend our flag, which is our most precious treasure", he said and added: "That is why this space will be responsible for remembering them as they deserve, for their deeds, but above all, for their values".

Finally, Adorni paid tribute to the recently deceased Malvinas hero Ricardo Akins. "Ricardo was an amphibious commando who took part in Operation Rosario, in which, together with a group of comrades, he took the Royal Marines' barracks and raised the Argentine flag on the islands.

"We are honoured to have his family present at this event and we would like to express our deepest condolences for his loss," he concluded.

The event was attended by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei; the Minister of Defence, Luis Petri; the Chancellor Diana Mondino; veterans of the Malvinas War with their families and national authorities.
