The National Government declared, through decree N°55/2024, 2024 as the "Year of the Defence of Life, Liberty and Property", so that all official documentation of the National Public Administration, centralised and decentralised, as well as of the Autarchic Entities, shall bear the legend during the current year.

The initiative aims to highlight, disseminate and raise awareness of the values of life, liberty and property, returning to the path that made our country great. The National Constitution establishes in its Preamble the duty of the State to ensure the benefits of freedom for all the inhabitants of the Nation, strengthening justice and consolidating internal peace.

The recitals of the decree highlight the concept of liberalism, which advocates the protection of private property, markets free from state intervention, free competition, division of labour and social cooperation. Furthermore, it recalls the spirit of the Declaration of Rights of Virginia, United States of America, adopted on 12 June 1776, which declared that "all men are by nature equally free and independent, and have certain innate rights, of which, when they enter into the state of society, they cannot by any compact deprive or dispossess their posterity, namely, the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing property, and seeking and obtaining happiness and security".

It also mentions the reforms that the National Executive Power carried out in the name of the May Revolution of 1810, which had the spirit of restoring the economic and social order based on the liberal doctrine embodied in the National Constitution of 1853 and in defence of the life, liberty and property of all the inhabitants of Argentine soil.

It is for this reason that the National Government promotes this measure and invites the provincial governments and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires to adhere to this regulation published in the Official Gazette on 19 January 2024.
