President Mauricio Macri held meetings today with the leaders of the International Red Cross and the World Trade Organization (WTO), in Geneva, Switzerland.
Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), praised the important contribution of Argentine forensic doctors collaborating with the Red Cross to identify missing persons in many different parts of the world. Macri pledged to build the necessary bridges with the incoming Argentine administration to ensure this collaboration continues.
Argentina's forensic expertise in identifying vicitims of armed conflict and terrorism is considered among the best in the world.
Macri and Maurer also stated their concern for the current migrant situation in several Latin American countries.
President Macri was later received by Roberto Azevedo, Director General of the World Trade Organization. Both discussed the current state of global trade and Macri's trade agenda over the course of his administration.
Azevedo expressed his hope that Argentina will continue in the future to support multilateralism.
