A presidential decree formally creating the Cambyretá Wild Nature Reserve, part of the vast wetlands known as the Iberá National Park, was passed on 25 July 2019.

The new reserve adds 12,000 hectares to Iberá’s Cambyretá portal in Ituzaingó, about 200 km from the city of Corrientes, in the province of the same name.

The land is known for its remarkable biological diversity and was donated by its owner, Teresita María Iturralde, in her capacity as representative of the Flora and Fauna Argentina Foundation.

The lands were ceded by the Conservation Land Trust and the Flora and Fauna Foundation through a gradual donation process that began in November 2016 and was finalized in December 2018 with Law No. 27481 that establishes the protection of the natural and cultural resources of the Corrientes estuaries.

Iberá National Park has an area of ​​183,500 hectares.
