Air arrivals of foreign tourists to Argentina grew 22.8 percent in January and February, compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the national statistics agency INDEC and the Tourism Secretariat.
The two international airports serving the city of Buenos Aires, Ministro Pistarini (Ezeiza) and Jorge Newbery (Aeroparque), saw a year-on-year increase of 19.2%, with 506,370 arrivals.
A further 65,708 arrivals were recorded at Argentina’s other commercial airports, an increase of 60.8% compared to the same period last year.
February recorded 232,800 air arrivals, its highest in seven years and a 18.8% increase on 2018.
A quarter of all air arrivals in February came from Europe, with just under 15% from the United States and Canada, and 16% from Brazil and Chile. Arrivals from Chile soared 65.1% compared with 2018.
