President Mauricio Macri and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met today at the presidential residence in Olivos, just outside the city of Buenos Aires, to discuss the most important aspects of the bilateral agenda between Argentina and the United States.
During the 40-minute meeting, Tillerson also offered best wishes from Donald Trump, the President of the United States.
The discussion included matters of mutual interest in economic and trade areas, as well the regional political environment, and the agenda of this year’s Argentine presidency of the G20.
Macri and Tillerson agreed that this is a relevant year for the Americas given the responsibility at the regional level of Canada and Argentina’s presidencies of the G7 and G20, respectively.
They also highlighted the importance of the upcoming 8th Summit of the Americas, to be held in Lima, Peru on 13-14 April.
Also participating in the official audience with the US Secretary of State were Marcos Peña, Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers; Jorge Faurie, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Fernando Oris de Roa, Argentine Ambassador to the United States; and Paola Di Chiaro, Undersecretary for Global Affairs.
